Marcum's Investigation Team provides relevant information that serves as input to evaluate the general character and provides information useful to determine the general character and honesty of an individual or a corporation. Such investigations are based on the facts and circumstances of the client's need or compliance with its employment policies. For pre-employment investigations, these involve verification and validation of designated information provided by an applicant on his/her application for a position at a client's company. Gathered information can also include credit rating, driving record, and criminal history. Investigations undertaken in relationship to employment can be affected by the Fair Credit Reporting Act that can require applicants consent to the collection of consumer credit information and should be reviewed with your General Counsel or external counsel, as appropriate.
Business background investigations involve understanding its structure, owners, key executives, certain significant assets and liabilities, and relevant customers and suppliers. Again, these investigations can be conformed to a particular client's needs for the purpose of merger and acquisition evaluations, litigation or collection of judgments, and competitive analysis.
